I'm lying on a pile of fluffy towels, aromatic scents fill the air and gentle music is tinkling in the background.
So far, so spa. Until my smiling therapist says: "Are you ready for me to put the snails on your face?"
Last week, I officially became the first person in Japan to try out an unusual -- and admittedly not very inviting -- beauty treatment: the live snail facial.
My snail spa journey begins with my therapist Manami san, dressed in a pale yellow uniform, leading me to a serene white room where I am instructed to slip into a towelling robe and lie on the bed.
